Aceite de Achiote


Time: 15 minutes | Yield: 2 Cups


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup annatto/achiote seeds

2 cups oil (non virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or lard)

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Warm the oil over low/medium heat and add the achiote seeds.

2. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until the oil turns red.

3. Turn off the heat and let the oil cool.

4. Strain out the seeds and store the oil in a mason jar or any airtight container.

Pro Tip: Keep it in the fridge, it’ll last longer!
